Best Wineries & Breweries Around Cape Paterson

With a favourable mild climate and dirt rich with nutrients, the grapes grown in the Gippsland region help create some of Victoria’s best wines which is fast gaining recognition in Australia and around the world.

We’ve put a list of the top wineries and breweries you can visit while you stay at Cape Paterson, perfect for a lazy afternoon. Plus, don’t forget to bring some bottles home for your friends or family, or a treat for yourself.

Dirty Three Wines

Located in the heart of South Gippsland, this small winery run by husband and wife duo Lisa and Satchell make wines with purity, balance and harmony. Named after the three ‘dirts’ (vineyards) that their vines are grown in, and accordingly, the three distinct flavours of Pinot Noir which are produced. Drop into Dirty Three Wines for a glass of their famous red, paired perfectly with a sample platter of local cheese and charcuterie.

Harmen Wines

Hop in the car and drive a little further, where you’ll find the family owned and run, Harman Wines, just 20 minutes north of Cape Paterson. Harman Wines welcomes you to their Winery and Cellar Door to enjoy wine tastings or to just relax to the sound of live music (jump on their website to see when the next musician will be playing) and delicious wood fired pizzas on a Sunday.

Bass River Winery

It may be small in size, but Bass River Winery is certainly rich in flavour and passion! Located 30 minutes from Cape Paterson, this hidden gem continues to produce Bass River’s finest wines. The Butera Family produce small quantities of premium wine using fruit grown only from their estate vineyard. With an emphasis on crafting wines that celebrate the region’s unique biodiversity, the wines on offer here will be unlike anything you’ve ever tasted before.

Lucinda Estate

Planted on the outskirts of Leongatha, about 30 minutes from Cape Paterson, Lucinda Estate is what husband and wife team, Andrew and Lucinda like to call, “Leongatha’s Best Kept Secret”. The second you walk into their cellar door you’ll feel a sense of warmth and passion for the products you are about to indulge in. Treat yourself to a wine tasting & accompanying meal or, if wine doesn’t tickle your fancy Lucinda Estate are in fact the creators behind Gippsland Cider Co. producing both a pear and apple cider, perfect for a sunny Spring afternoon.

Burra Brewing Co.

Located in the beautiful rolling hills of Korumburra, 30 minutes north of Cape Paterson, you’ll find Burra Brewing Co. This microbrewery offers up a range of craft beers, all brewed on site, along with a delicious menu of wood fired pizzas to enjoy in the sunlit beer garden. Don’t forget to grab a few cans to take home with you!
